The Mets have had a lot of success recently by signing veteran players off the scrapheap, and they hope their latest move will continue that trend.
New York announced they’ve agreed to a minor league deal with former Rays’ outfielder Desmond Jennings on Wednesday, who experienced a rather sudden fall from grace.

Jennings was the No. 6 prospect in baseball in prior to the 2010 season, according to Baseball America, but after a strong rookie campaign in 2011, Jennings has struggled to continue his early success.
The 30-year-old has struggled to stay healthy over the past few seasons, last playing regularly in 2014. In seven seasons at the Major League level, Jennings hit .245/.322/.393 with 55 homers and 95 steals.
